In just a few minutes I will step out the door,
I am not physically, spiritually or emotionally prepared for this journey. Yet I feel this tremendous draw for a reason.
Things happen for a reason.
Saturday we went to my dad's. He is weak and fragile. I silently wondered if I would see him again. We planned to go to Mass at 8 am, have an early breakfast and get on back to Hermiston for another round of packing. We slept a little longer and made it to 10:30 Mass instead.
We didn't know what we were walking in to. There in Assumption Catholic Church was the Walla Walla Valley Academy String Orchestra, I believe a Seventh Day Adventist group ( with a Fazzari or two thrown in) They played the Catholic Mass perfectly. It was too beautiful to sing to, although Charlie tried though his tears.
We changed our plans a little. We were majorly blessed.
Stopped by the funeral home to pay respects to 93 year old Johnny Lyons who died this week. That wasn't in the plans. Got to see Jack, Alice, Jimmy and Gerald...missed Mike, Frank and Connie. Dear childhood playmates and schoolmates.
Struggles with the teenage boy have been more than trying. Tonight he was huggy and clingy and kept checking on me...unexpected.
Today will bring the unexpected. After a sleepess night and several tight connections, I will be in a place where I will need to rely on my own courage and the kindness of strangers.
I go.
bon voyage
bon chemin
